Luxury car VS economical car
Posted in: Uncategorized | December 2nd, 2011 | Leave a comment
Southern California is such a car culture. Most of the time, people will make up assumptions about your character, financial position, or your status based on what you drive. I am sure all of you know someone who drives a 75k car and lives in a $1200/month apartment. While there might be reasons behind people doing that, most people see what you drive rather than where you live, and that’s why we buy expensive cars.
Because of this crazy car culture, the used luxury car market is a booming business, even in this crazy economic times. Why would you buy a brand new Camry, when you can get a 5 year old Mercedes S class for the same price? Lot of people see this kind of logic. While this kind of thinking seems to make a lot of sense, because you get a lot more perceived value in a Benz than a Camry for the same money, and you definitely look “cooler” driving it, you should realize that that Benz cost near a 100 grand 5 years ago, and even though you paid 1/3 of that for it, it will still need all of maintenance and repairs like a $100k car.
All those bells and whistles which are in the Benz just means more stuff to go wrong. and be prepared to spend $200+ for routine oil changes and $700 brake jobs. Now if you are one of the few who can afford that, then it is a very wise decision to buy that 5 year old Benz over a brand new Camry. But for all others, there is hope. Every luxury car maker offers a “Certified Preowned program” and you can go an get a 3 year old or newer car with factory warranty and free maintenance, for 20-40% discount over a comparable new one. So you might not be able to get a S class Mercedes, but you can get a C class or an E class for that 30 grand. Still lot more car than the Camry.

How do you know your car needs a repaint?
Posted in: Car Maintenance, Collision Repair, I-CAR Gold Class, Lifetime Warranty, Mechanical Work | September 14th, 2011 | 1 Comment
We get a lot of customers who come in to get a quote to repaint their vehicle, and more than half of the time, the vehicle doesn’t need a repaint. It’s unfortunate when a customer does not need a repaint of the whole vehicle, and they get suckered into a cheaper quality paint job by a shop. Basically they are taking the good quality paint which is on there and covering it up with a lower grade paint job. read more
Change is not good, but it’s “GREAT”

Quality Assured Collision Center has gone through a lot of changes in the last month. The biggest one being the change in location. I have to admit, moving a shop which was somewhat established for 7 years in one location was a bit nerve wrecking, but I kept telling myself that change is great. Why are we so afraid of change? we are afraid to change banks, we are afraid to change our insurance companies, we are afraid to change jobs, and we are afraid to change relationships, even though we know that there are better banks, insurance companies, jobs, and relationships out there.
I know Change is scary, and we generally don’t like to be in the uncharted territory. But change is great because it makes you see things in a different perspective, it gives you a new sense of motivation, it opens up new possibilities which were non existent before. Rarely you will meet a person who says that I made a change and I regret it. read more

Communication is Key
Posted in: Car Maintenance, Collision Repair, I-CAR Gold Class, Lifetime Warranty, Mechanical Work | May 18th, 2011 | 5 Comments
Communication is the most important thing in any kind of relationship. It could be personal or professional. Most relationships fail because lack of communication. When it comes to the repair process after a collision, I believe communication is more important than even the quality of repairs.
How to Get the Most Mileage From a Gallon of Gas
Posted in: Car Maintenance, Mechanical Work | April 28th, 2011 | 1 Comment
With gas prices hovering around $4.50 a gallon, everybody is feeling the pain. Driving is a necessity for most of us in California. So what can one do to get the most out of their dollar when it comes to driving more efficiently?
Here are some tips which all of us can follow to get most out of a gallon of gas.
1. Take it easy with the gas pedal. Take those lead weights off from the bottom of your feet. Accelerating too fast means you are working your engine harder and it will burn more fuel.
2. Keep it under 80 mph. All cars have different optimal speed for achieving best fuel mileage, but in general, anything over 65mph will result in diminishing fuel mileage.

3 Things You Can Do to Keep Your Car Looking Good
Posted in: Car Maintenance | February 11th, 2011 | Leave a comment
As I was detailing my ’69 Jaguar Etype, a thought came to my mind. It seems like nowadays I have seen fewer and fewer people actually washing their own cars. I am sure my neighbors are always wondering, why does he wash his cars when he owns an auto body shop? And to be honest, sometimes I wonder that myself. We have technicians at the shop who are highly trained and experienced detailers, but to a car guy like me, we would rather do the detailing ourselves. With that said, you don’t have to be a “Car Guy” to take pride in cleaning and caring for your car.
Here are some tips which I think any person can follow and that will go a long way in keeping one of your most prized possessions looking good and hold its resale value.
1) Wash your car once a week:
Now if your car spends its days in a parking structure and nights in your garage, then you can probably do it every two weeks, But if you are like most Americans and your car spends days on the 405 traffic jams and nights on the side of your house, then you should wash it once a week. read more
